Zappos Paired Shoes: I’m Not A Box
Zappos Paired Shoes: I’m Not A Box, a blog post by EcoGoodz
Zappos is an online shoe retailer. They were established in 1999 after founder Nick Swinmurn spent hours in search of the perfect pair of shoes, all to no avail. Nearly 20 years later, today they are known for having an extensive selection and excellent customer service. But that’s not all. They also strive for sustainability. In 2013 their headquarters were revamped to meet the green building standards of the United States Green Building Council.
And now their sustainability efforts will arrive on your doorstep, with paired shoes inside. Their new campaign #ImNotABox encourages consumers to be creative with the cardboard packaging (formerly known as ‘a box’) their shoes arrive in.
According to Footwear News: “The Zappos box is our way of being there for our customers, wherever they are in life, as we provide them with the things they need and love.” said Kelly Smith of Zappos THINK, an in-house experimental campaign team at Zappos.com focused on creating storytelling movements. “Every box has a unique story and purpose. Not only do we want customers to know we genuinely care about their needs, but we also hope to inspire people to become the best version of themselves and to see the world with a new perspective. We want people in the end to say, ‘I’m not a box.’ ”
This is brilliant. Whimsical and creative with so much potential for fun and reuse. We are excited to watch this campaign grow and for more people to get used to the idea of reuse–to literally think outside the box and make something from these cool cardboard canvasses.
